Emanuele Pantanella

Artist and designer Emanuele Pantanella has always been drawn to the Eastern Mediterranean, traveling between the 1970s and early 2000s to Greece, Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, and Syria. With a curious, cosmopolitan perspective, he was deeply attentive to the world around him. He always carried a notebook in his pocket, using a fine multigraph and sepia-colored ink to sketch the forms and scenes he encountered. His passion for ancient civilizations and oriental calligraphy laid the foundation for his creations.

His work embodies simple objects with the elegance of a timeless aesthetic, merging functionality with contemporary lines. These pieces are modern interpretations of ancient objects—objets de vertu—that embrace all cultures. His guiding intuition can be summed up in one phrase: "conserve to transform.”

Exhibited in prestigious museums around the world, his creations have been featured at the Met in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and many more.

Today, the Emanuele Pantanella Design studio continues to captivate the public, offering a fresh perspective on Pantanella's timeless designs.

The studio

Located in the heart of Rome, nestled in the alleys of the historic center. A storefront on the street intrigues passersby, who stop to look from  the corner of their eyes. Inside, time stands still, immersed in a fantastic world. All the objects present tell the story of a distant and endless time.

"I love objects, materials, simple and purged forms, I love collecting objects of marble, of wood, reproducing the detail of a sculpture or a life scene."

I immensely love femininity in all its forms, in its genius, in its intimacy. it is what attracts me to the egg; this form represents the masculine and the feminine at the same time, it is unity. The form of the egg accompanied most of my early production-in the upper design of my lamps for example, or in the "minaudières." - Because it is a pure, absolute, invariable form.

"What really matters to me is form and material. I became interested in wood very early on. There is an immense world when it comes to wood, made of varieties, of essences, and each with its own characteristic, as much visual as solid, and durable. I discovered an endless world."
